Background and Experience
Samuel grew up in Calgary, Alberta, where he developed a strong sense of community and commitment to service. He studied Criminal Justice at Mount Royal University before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. Samuel began his legal career in Ontario before returning to Alberta to be closer to family and practice in the community where he was raised.
Samuel brings a practical, thoughtful, and strategic approach to family law. His practice includes separation and divorce, parenting, child and spousal support, family property, financial disclosure, and domestic agreements. He works to understand each client’s circumstances and priorities and develop solutions that protect their legal and financial interests.
Samuel believes effective advocacy requires sound judgment and a clear understanding of the client’s objectives. He approaches matters collaboratively wherever possible, recognizing that negotiated solutions can provide families with greater certainty and control. When a firmer approach is required, he is prepared to advocate decisively.
Samuel assists clients in both contested and uncontested family law matters. His experience ranges from negotiated settlements, agreements, and consent resolutions to matters requiring mediation, arbitration, or court intervention. He has represented clients in mediations and arbitrations and has appeared before both the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta and the Alberta Court of Justice.
Before focusing his practice on family law, Samuel developed experience in Canadian immigration law, corporate and commercial matters, legal research, and regulatory work. He has advised individuals, families, professionals, and businesses on complex legal matters and managed files involving substantial documentation, financial information, and strategic decision-making. This broader background continues to inform the analytical and organized approach he brings to his practice.
Samuel is fluent in English and Spanish and can assist Spanish-speaking clients in their native language.
Outside of the practice of law, Samuel enjoys travelling, Latin dancing, learning languages, hiking, soccer, and weightlifting.
